Editorial and Digital Resource Editing: DEI, HR, educational content

I provide editing and content support on digital resources with a focus on neurodiversity, disability, and inclusive communication. My background combines lived experience, formal training in traditional and indie publishing, and expertise in content marketing, enabling me to help organizations and creators develop clear, accessible, and engaging digital materials. Connected to the disability advocacy community, I ensure projects follow a ‘nothing about us without us’ approach, making digital resources meaningful and inclusive for neurodivergent and disabled audiences.

I’m Rosemary Richings.

And here’s what you need to know about me:

Previously, I have worked with clients such as Yellowpages, eBay, Saatva Mattress Company, Uptimize, and Lexxic. I am the author of two dyspraxia focused books: “Stumbling Through Space and Time: Living Life With Dyspraxia” and “Studying With Dyspraxia”. I am both neurodivergent and live with a thyroid condition, two experiences that greatly inform my work as a disabled professional.

Below are a few samples of my past work:

Medical cannabis advocacy digital resources development project

HIP Lives digital resources

In March 2019, I helped Amie Reiman launch the HIP Lives website. HIP Lives is a website that covers health, wellness, and women’s advocacy. Her site explores the topic of medical cannabis therapy and the stigma that medical cannabis users face.

A few of the articles published:

How my son’s epilepsy diagnosis made me a cannabis advocate

How meditation has helped me accept my lack of control

Here is the core advantage my support had for Amie when we first started working together on developing new digital resources:

Rosemary is a pleasure to work with because she takes the daunting “start-up” needs of a super beginner and supports you from the intake right through to the launch. I have gained capabilities in the areas I wished to learn and feel more confident in handing over the reins where expert services are rendered.

A writing program for non- professional writers: digital resources project (website)

Your Desk logo a sample of digital resources I have done before.

When Melanie first reached out to me, she was developing a website from scratch. She wanted to promote her online writing workshops for people who have to write at work. She also wanted to promote her writing coaching and her University of Ottawa Professional Development Institute workshops.

She was already working with a web developer but needed an editor to help with the layout and messaging. I don’t know sign language, was unable to find anyone who could sign on short notice, and couldn’t get the closed captioning to work. Although this created communication barriers on our first call, I quickly found alternative communication approaches that worked for us both.

Here is her opinion on the digital resource itself (her company website)

This is just a quick one, for now, to say that I love what you did with it! It seems to flow so much better to me. All your suggestions make sense, and I’m revising to address them.

Neurodiversity training for employers: digital resources brochure project

The front cover of the neurodiversity smart brochure

Lexxic partners with organizations that are eager to create a neuroinclusive work environment for neurodivergent employees that makes flourishing at work a possibility.

In May 2022, I was approached by Lexxic, who wanted to achieve two things:

  • Make the overall language, layout, and other aspects of their brochures more accessible to the general public.
  •  Ensure that all language used represents neurodivergent people in a fair and non-stigmatizing way.

For several months, I worked on several brochures for them, ranging from those educating people about specific types of neurodivergence to those explaining their Neurodiversity SMART Certification Program. Here’s a sample of the project I worked on. When the project concluded, here’s what they had to say about their experiences working with me:

We’ve loved working with you, your reviews and feedback on our documents so far have been really helpful. If we have any other projects in the near future, I will definitely be in touch. Many thanks, Brooke
