Want to reach out to me?

Rosemary Richings showing an article she wrote. You can contact Rosemary via the details below.

I run a one-person business as a disabled professional, so I take on a limited number of commissioned projects at any given time. This means I prioritize paid, relevant enquiries, and I don’t respond to unsolicited or undefined enquiries.

I also do not respond to unsolicited pitches, promotional outreach, or requests for collaboration without a defined brief.

If your enquiry is time-sensitive, please include your deadline so I can let you know if I’m able to accommodate it. Otherwise, allow a few working days for a response.

Please note: I’m not hiring or building a team. Commissioned, scoped work only.

Working with me

I take on commissioned writing, editing, and speaking projects focused on neurodiversity, disability, and communication.

To keep the work sustainable and clear on both sides, I only respond to enquiries that include some initial context about the project (what it is, who it’s for, and where it sits in your overall work process).

I’m not the right fit for speculative requests, open-ended “ideas chats”, or unpaid exploratory work without a defined brief.

If you’re unsure whether something fits, a short outline of what you’re working on is enough to start the conversation.

FAQs people have before they contact me

Can I quote a passage from your books in something I am publishing for academic or commercial purposes?

Yes, you can if you follow the rules of fair use, otherwise known as fair dealing in the UK. If you do that, you should be able to quote a select few passages without having to pay copyright fees. This University of Edinburgh resource explains quite well what fair dealing looks like. For Studying With Dyspraxia, reach out to Bloomsbury’s permissions department‘s rights and permissions department. For Stumbling Through Space and Time, submit your request via PLS Clear. Then, search for this exact title directly on this platform.

I want to cite a passage from an article you wrote in a project I am working on: Is there anything I need to do?

Yes, if you follow fair use/ fair dealing rules. However, if it is published through an American company, find the email of an editor who works there. Then tell them what article you are considering quoting and what parts of the article to ensure all copyright rules are being followed.

Just read something you wrote: could you add a link to my product or service to the article?

No. I do not include promotional links to external products or services in my work. Editors also generally do not approve such requests.

Working together

How long will each project take?

For writing, I typically work through 2–3 drafts before sending a version for your review. Timelines are usually 1–2 weeks from assignment, though I can accommodate shorter turnarounds if needed. Interviews or source availability may extend timelines; I’ll communicate any delays so we can plan together.
For editing, the time depends on document length and the level of work required.
For speaking, I need at least 2 weeks’ notice for preparation, and longer for in-person events to plan travel.

If I hire you for your writing work, is there anything I will need to do?

Yes—provide clear background information and materials so I can produce work that meets your goals. Keep feedback limited to a maximum of two people and one round of revisions per draft. Remember, I often work on multiple projects, so this helps keep things on track.
